Bigger Issues than Navel Gazing.

I got fired today!! I wish I was upset about it, but after the first two seconds of surprise wore off, I was PSYCHED!!!

I. NEVER. HAVE. TO. DEAL. WITH. THOSE. NASTY. BEEYOTCHES. AGAIN.

Sure, I need to file for unemployment, enroll in Cobra, buy pantyhose and take my trusty black interview blazer to the cleaners, but WHATEVAH!

The reason I got fired is PRICELESS -- I abused the internet! They got me dead to rights there, no doubt. Apparently a red flag came up when they updated the system so they saw that I spent about 4-5 ACTIVE HOURS online...wow.

I apologized, but I'm not really sorry. That was a boring dead-end job where I was relentlessly abused and I know I lost myself online in an almost addictive fashion to remove me from the purgatory of my daily grind. I suppose I'll have to scale it way back on the next job.

I am choosing to see this as a cattle prod from the Universe to get me out of that toxic enviornment and into somewhere else.

Seriously, I shouldn't be this psyched about getting fired. I should be ashamed or humiliated.

However, I am giddy with relief.

I hope I can stay positive through the REemployment process!

OH and now I can do those cool classes at the gym that I resented because I was working -- at least try them once. :)

It sounds like that was a job you needed to get out of. Are they not going to contest unemployment? Usually if a company has cause, you wouldn't be eligible. Just trying to brighten your day:) Hope you do get it!!

CONGRATS! Getting fired from a job you hate is truly a blessing - they force the issue you are desperate to force yourself, but are unable to without another job. Don't worry, September is when new jobs open up, now that summer is over. You'll be absolutely find, and whatever job is next, it sounds like it HAS to be better than what you had!

Here's a sentence I thought I'd never type, but congratulations on being fired! There is actually a book about people's experiences being fired that I want to read. I kind of wish my mom would get fired because she's been talking about quitting her crappy job for years.

Wow! It actually sounds like congratulations are in order, though.

I'm looking right now too, and it seems like there's a lot out there.

Here's to moving on to something better!

I love, I just love, how happy you are about being fired, how sane and healthy that is. I live in a world inhabited by many, wherein Job is Life and Job is Identity and we get into this cult-like mentality that says, I can never do anything but this! Good for you for seeing job for what it is: not your whole life.

You might be surprised. I read someone else's blog (I'll see if I can find it and repost here) where they were fired for the internet thingy too...BUT, the Unemployment Office said that being on the internet was not detrimental to her job performance.

So who knows? LOL

Besides, where I worked there were procedures to follow before firing someone for whatever reason... first a verbal reprimand, then a letter of warning, and THEN get fired.

It sounds like they fired you without prior warning. I don't think they can do that ... but it depends on where you live I guess.

Good luck! Hope you find something that makes you HAPPIER!
